Pirfekast 200 Tablets
Pirfekast 200 Tablets PIRFEKAST-200 contains Pirfenidone, an orally active antifibrotic and anti-inflammatory agent. The exact mechanism of action is not fully elucidated; however, pirfenidone inhibits the synthesis and activity of transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), a key cytokine that drives fibroblast proliferation, differentiation into myofibroblasts, and collagen synthesis. It also decreases the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, including tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), thereby suppressing fibrotic extracellular matrix accumulation and inflammatory cascades within lung parenchyma. PIRFEKAST-200 is indicated for the treatment of Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) to reduce the rate of decline in lung function.
