Tamikast 75 Capsules TAMIKAST-75 contains Oseltamivir phosphate, an ethyl ester prodrug requiring systemic hydrolysis to its active metabolite, oseltamivir carboxylate. Oseltamivir carboxylate is a potent, selective competitive inhibitor of viral neuraminidase enzymes found on the surface of influenza A and B viruses. Neuraminidase activity is essential for cleavage of terminal sialic acid residues, which allows newly formed virions to be released from infected host cells and spread throughout the respiratory tract. By inhibiting viral neuraminidase, oseltamivir halts viral progeny release, prevents viral dissemination, and reduces the duration and severity of systemic influenza symptoms. TAMIKAST-75 is indicated for the treatment of acute, uncomplicated influenza A and B infection in adults and pediatric patients, as well as for post-exposure prophylaxis following close contact with an infected individual.
