MYFOCEPT-500 Tablets

MYFOCEPT-500 Tablets MYFOCEPT-500 contains Mycophenolate Mofetil, the 2-morpholinoethyl ester prodrug of mycophenolic acid (MPA). Following oral administration, mycophenolate mofetil undergoes rapid and extensive hydrolysis to active MPA. MPA is a potent, selective, uncompetitive, and reversible inhibitor of inosine monophosphate dehydrogenase (IMPDH), a key rate-limiting enzyme in the de novo pathway of guanosine nucleotide synthesis. Because T- and B-lymphocytes rely almost entirely on this de novo pathway for purine biosynthesis rather than salvage pathways, MPA selectively inhibits lymphocyte proliferation and antibody formation. This action prevents T-cell expansion and suppresses cytotoxic T-lymphocyte generation, reducing the risk of graft rejection. MYFOCEPT-500 is indicated in combination with corticosteroids and a calcineurin inhibitor (such as cyclosporine or tacrolimus) for the prophylaxis of acute organ rejection in patients receiving allogeneic renal, hepatic, or cardiac transplants.
