Albentel 400mg Tablets

Albentel 400mg Tablets ALBENTEL contains micronised Albendazole, a broad-spectrum synthetic anthelmintic agent belonging to the benzimidazole class. Albendazole causes degenerative alterations in the tegument and intestinal cells of the helminth by binding to the colchicine-sensitive site of beta-tubulin, thereby inhibiting its polymerization or assembly into microtubules. The loss of intracellular microtubules leads to impaired uptake of glucose by larval and adult stages of susceptible parasites, depleting their glycogen stores, decreasing ATP production, and resulting in energy starvation, immobilization, and cell death. Micronisation enhances systemic bioavailability and absorption of the active compound. ALBENTEL is indicated for the treatment of single or mixed intestinal parasite infections, including neurocysticercosis caused by larval forms of the pork tapeworm (Taenia solium), cystic hydatid disease of the liver, lung, and peritoneum caused by larval forms of the dog tapeworm (Echinococcus granulosus), as well as ascariasis, enterobiasis, hookworm infections, and trichuriasis.
