Iverkast 12 Tablets IVERKAST contains Ivermectin, a broad-spectrum anthelmintic macrocyclic lactone derivative. Ivermectin binds selectively and with high affinity to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels present in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells. This binding increases cell membrane permeability to chloride ions, causing hyperpolarization of the neuromuscular cell, paralysis, and death of the parasite. Ivermectin also interacts with GABA-gated chloride channels in invertebrates. IVERKAST is indicated for the treatment of parasitic infections, including strongyloidiasis (threadworm infection of the intestinal tract), onchocerciasis (river blindness) caused by Onchocerca volvulus, lymphatic filariasis, and scabies.
