DARUVIR 800 Tablets DARUVIR 800 contains Darunavir Ethanolate, a second-generation non-peptidic HIV-1 protease inhibitor. Darunavir selectively inhibits the cleavage of HIV encoded Gag-Pol polyproteins in infected cells, preventing the formation of mature, infectious viral particles. Designed to form robust hydrogen bonds with the HIV-1 protease backbone, darunavir maintains potent activity against wild-type HIV-1 as well as strains resistant to older protease inhibitors. It is indicated, co-administered with a pharmacokinetic enhancer (ritonavir or cobicistat) and in combination with other antiretroviral agents, for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adult and pediatric patients.
