LOPIKAST Tablets LOPIKAST is a co-formulated fixed-dose combination of Lopinavir, an HIV-1 protease inhibitor, and Ritonavir, a pharmacokinetic enhancer. Lopinavir selectively binds to the active site of HIV-1 protease, preventing the cleavage of viral Gag-Pol polyprotein precursors, which halts the formation of mature, infectious viral particles. Ritonavir acts as a potent inhibitor of cytochrome P450 3A (CYP3A) hepatic metabolism, significantly elevating lopinavir plasma concentrations and extending its half-life. It is indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adult and pediatric patients.
