TENOLAM Tablets TENOLAM is a fixed-dose dual antiretroviral combination comprising Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (a nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor) and Lamivudine (a nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor). Intracellularly, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate is converted to tenofovir diphosphate and lamivudine is phosphorylated to lamivudine triphosphate. Both active metabolites compete with natural nucleoside substrates for incorporation into nascent viral DNA, acting as chain terminators to halt HIV-1 reverse transcriptase activity and inhibit viral replication. It is indicated in combination with other antiretroviral agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and pediatric patients weighing at least 35 kg.
