TEEVIR Tablets TEEVIR is a fixed-dose complete single-tablet antiretroviral regimen combining Efavirenz (an NNRTI), Emtricitabine (an NRTI), and Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate (an NtRTI). Efavirenz non-competitively binds directly to HIV-1 reverse transcriptase, inducing a conformational change that blocks viral RNA-dependent DNA polymerase activity. Emtricitabine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate are intracellularly phosphorylated to their active triphosphate/diphosphate forms, which compete with natural nucleoside substrates and incorporate into viral DNA to cause DNA chain termination. Together, these three agents suppress HIV-1 replication. It is indicated as a complete regimen for the treatment of HIV-1 infection in adult and pediatric patients weighing at least 40 kg.
