Duovir-E Kit Duovir-E Kit is a fixed-dose combination therapy designed for the complete daily regimen of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Type 1 (HIV-1) infection. It combines two Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitors (Lamivudine and Zidovudine) with a Non-Nucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor (Efavirenz). Lamivudine and zidovudine undergo intracellular phosphorylation to active triphosphates that incorporate into viral DNA, causing DNA chain termination. Efavirenz directly binds non-competitively to HIV-1 reverse transcriptase, inducing a conformational change that blocks RNA-dependent and DNA-dependent DNA polymerase activities. Together, these complementary mechanisms suppress viral replication and reduce viral load.
