TAFSURE Tablets TAFSURE contains Tenofovir Alafenamide, a targeted prodrug of tenofovir designed to enhance systemic stability and achieve greater intracellular active drug concentration within hepatocytes and lymphoid cells at a lower dose than older formulations. Upon cellular uptake, tenofovir alafenamide is hydrolyzed to tenofovir and phosphorylated to active tenofovir diphosphate. Tenofovir diphosphate acts as a competitive substrate for viral reverse transcriptase and viral DNA polymerase, integrating into the viral DNA strand to cause DNA chain termination. TAFSURE is indicated for the treatment of chronic Hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection in adult and pediatric patients with compensated liver disease, as well as an active component in combination antiretroviral regimens for HIV-1 management.
